Where is this? At the Navy base here? What a great building!
Yes, Pam, this little chapel is located at the old Navy Base in North Charleston. Many of the buildings and much of the land has been put to new uses, but the chapel still stands. The inscription refers to "The Navy Hymn" which moves with a slow and mournful cadence.
I had originally posted this on September 11, 2005.
Thanks for dropping by.
yes. but its subject to lots of break ins.
I go to the school directly behind it, Academic Magnet.
The whole Navy Base is pretty interesting. It's mainly deserted, but it's really cool to check out.
The old Admiral's House is nearby too.
Thanks for your comment, Karen. We wish that the security had been better. There's no excuse for what's happened to the Chapel and the Commandant's quarters.
We think that the old base is neat place for the Academic Magnet and the many intereting enterprises which have taken up residence there.
