The reason that you will sometimes see a contingent of armed Guards (Police) and Army personnel posted outside one of the banks is because it means there is a large delivery of money being made to the bank - or taken from it. They are there to protect the money. That's why nobody takes any notice when this happens.

Thank you, friend from Ennis. Yours is a lovely town and one which we very much enjoyed. We did in fact enjoy the entire trip through Ireland from Burren to Adare.

We seem to have jumped the gun with the presence of Garda at the bank. It certainly makes sense that transfers of cash would be guarded in that manner.

Ireland was peaceful, orderly and beautiful everywhere we went. The quality of the people we met was our greatest pleasure.

Many thanks for your comment. We are happy that you read our blog.
